NEVER QUIT - Lone Survivor “Marcus Luttrell” Podcast Interview with Billy Alsbrooks

About this video

Alsbrooks recounts his journey from a troubled childhood marked by his father’s alcoholism to a successful career as a gangster rapper and music producer, followed by a transformative moment at his father’s funeral that led him to leave the music industry and pursue motivational speaking. He describes growing up in the church, losing his way during high school, achieving Billboard success while promoting destructive lifestyles through his music, and ultimately finding his calling to inspire others after witnessing his father’s death and legacy of helping people in recovery.

Key takeaways

• Alsbrooks grew up with a father struggling with severe alcoholism, which shaped his aversion to alcohol but also drove him to seek escape through music and success in the rap world
• Despite achieving Billboard success as a rapper and producer, Alsbrooks felt emptiness and realized he was using his God-given talents to promote negativity and destruction
• A funeral director’s simple statement ‘here’s where you’re gonna lay’ and witnessing testimonies about his father’s service to others at the wake prompted Alsbrooks to completely change his life’s direction from pursuing wealth to pursuing legacy and helping others
