Minimal Desk Setup | My Simple NYC Home Office Tour

About this video

McGoff provides a detailed tour of his minimalist desk workspace, demonstrating how he applies intentional living principles to his creative setup. He explains his choices for each piece of equipment—from his standing desk and laptop to his monitor and microphone—emphasizing functionality, adjustability, and simplicity over excess peripherals or unnecessary features.

Key takeaways

• McGoff advocates for a ’less is more’ workspace approach, avoiding extra keyboards, peripherals, and unnecessary equipment to maintain focus and minimize distractions
• McGoff recommends using adjustable monitor and microphone arms to customize workspace ergonomics and cable management, allowing for flexibility depending on the task
• McGoff argues that an entry-level dynamic microphone (ATR2100) can be sufficient for voice-over and podcasting work rather than investing in high-end condenser microphones that may be overkill
• McGoff suggests using a simple stool instead of a comfortable chair to encourage standing and switching between positions throughout the day, balancing health with productivity
