Debunking Gavin Newsom Lies About Guns On Shawn Ryan's Podcast

About this video

Colion analyzes a full-length interview segment between Shawn Ryan and California Governor Gavin Newsom on gun control policy. Colion argues that Newsom employs rhetorical manipulation and statistical misrepresentation to advance gun control while claiming to support the Second Amendment. Colion breaks down Newsom’s claims about gun death rates, concealed carry, red state versus blue state crime statistics, and California’s May Issue permit system, contending that Newsom conflates suicide statistics with homicide data, ignores the role of Democrat-run cities in violent crime, and mischaracterizes public opinion and constitutional rights.

Key takeaways

• Colion contends that Newsom conflates ‘gun deaths’ (which include suicides, accounting for 58% of the total according to Colion’s cited figures) with violent crime to inflate perceived danger from firearms.
• Colion argues that high murder rates in ‘red states’ are driven by blue-city crime concentrated in a small percentage of counties, citing his interpretation of Crime Prevention Research Center data.
• Colion teaches that the post-Bruen surge in California concealed carry permits (which he reports jumped 774% in Santa Clara County) demonstrates strong public demand for carry rights contrary to Newsom’s claim of cultural opposition.
• Colion emphasizes that the Second Amendment, in his view, protects individual rights from government overreach and is not subject to majority vote or politician redefinition.
