Fastest Way To Shoot 500 Yards While Getting Into The Prone Position - Noir Skills & Drills

About this video

Colion demonstrates and teaches techniques for getting into prone position with a rifle and engaging targets at 300-500 yards in under 3 seconds. He works with instructor Buck from Follow Through Consulting in Utah, breaking down the mechanics of transitioning from kneeling to prone, establishing proper grip and position, and progressing to advanced techniques like shooting doubles (two rounds in the air simultaneously). Colion emphasizes that while the concept is simple, execution requires extensive dry practice at home, similar to pistol training.

Key takeaways

• Colion teaches a systematic method for transitioning from kneeling to prone: maintain knee position as a reference point, brace with firing hand while dropping, establish grip, load into bipods, connect, position rear bag, and progress from naked eye to red dot to magnified optic
• According to Colion, the key to shooting doubles is maintaining finger-to-trigger continuity throughout the engagement, flowing with the trigger rather than pinning or releasing it completely
• Colion stresses that achieving speed in prone shooting comes from being efficient with mechanics rather than trying to move fast—dry practice at home focusing on grip, load, connection, and visual progression is essential for developing proficiency
