FN 509 Compact MRD First Mag Review | I didn't Care About it, But Now I Really Like It!

About this video

Colion reviews the FN 509 Compact MRD, a pistol he describes as fitting a subcompact profile despite FN’s compact designation. He walks through the gun’s features including optics-ready slide, ambidextrous controls, three magazines (two 15-round extended, one 12-round flush), and suppressor-height sights. Colion emphasizes how naturally the gun shoots for him and positions it as a versatile travel or carry option that handles like a full-size pistol.

Key takeaways

• Colion argues the FN 509 Compact MRD shoots exceptionally naturally in his hands, handling recoil well despite its compact size
• Colion highlights the gun’s modularity—optics-ready, suppressor-height sights, flush and extended magazines—making it suitable for both carry and nightstand roles
• Colion praises the trigger as having clean take-up, a firm wall, and crisp break, calling it a standout feature compared to other FN handgun triggers he’s tried
