Heckler & Koch HK45 Tactical Compact | First Mag Review

About this video

Colion shares his experience shooting the HK45 Tactical Compact for the first time, explaining his long-standing desire to replace his full-size HK45 Tactical as his bedside gun with this more compact version. He describes finding the gun difficult and unpleasant to shoot unsuppressed due to heavy recoil and a long double-action trigger pull, but reports that adding a suppressor completely transforms the shooting experience, making it enjoyable and well-balanced. Colion concludes that while the gun may become a safe queen without the suppressor, it will likely become his new suppressed home defense setup.

Key takeaways

• Colion reports that the HK45C Tactical has significantly heavier felt recoil unsuppressed compared to the full-size version, which he attributes partly to being accustomed to shooting 9mm
• According to Colion, adding a suppressor dramatically improves the gun’s balance and shootability, transforming it from unpleasant to enjoyable
• Colion teaches that the Version 1 safety/decocker requires deliberate effort to engage, which he views as a benefit to prevent accidental decocking when drawing from a holster
