How Are So Many People This Ignorant About Firearm Safety In America?

About this video

Colion argues that the absence of firearm safety education in U.S. public schools is a critical mistake given the hundreds of millions of guns in the country. He believes that teaching basic gun safety, marksmanship fundamentals, and responsible firearm use would prevent accidents and create more responsible gun owners, similar to how schools teach safety for cars, knives, and other potentially dangerous tools. Colion contends that one political group deliberately keeps the public ignorant about firearms to justify gun control measures, rather than promoting education that would genuinely improve safety.

Key takeaways

• Colion advocates for mandatory firearm safety education in public schools, arguing it would reduce accidents and create responsible gun owners in a country with 300-400 million firearms.
• Colion claims that opponents of gun rights deliberately avoid promoting gun safety education because they prefer to use accidents and misuse as justification for banning firearms.
• Colion draws parallels to driver’s education and other safety programs, arguing that society teaches safe use of dangerous tools in every area except firearms, despite the Second Amendment right.
