About this video

Colion reviews the Vison Defense WD9, a Swiss-made 9mm pistol caliber carbine that he describes as a boutique firearm built for enjoyment rather than pure practicality. He explains that the WD9 uses direct blowback operation, features billet machined receivers, an HK-style three-lug barrel system, and accepts Glock magazines. Colion argues the gun represents Swiss precision engineering applied to firearms, offering smooth recoil and excellent build quality, though he acknowledges it’s neither the most accessible nor affordable option on the market.

Key takeaways

• Colion teaches that pistol caliber carbines are the ‘dessert’ of the firearm world—enjoyable and smooth-shooting rather than purely practical tools
• According to Colion, the WD9’s direct blowback system (no gas tube or piston) delivers linear, easily controllable recoil despite requiring a stiffer recoil spring
• Colion emphasizes that boutique firearms like the WD9 represent engineering craftsmanship and shooting enjoyment over mass-market practicality or revolutionary design
