I Thought a .50 BMG Would End This Cybertruck

About this video

Colion describes his experience attending a live ballistic demonstration in California where he and instructor Taran Butler tested Cyberglass armoring on a Tesla Cybertruck. Colion explains that the company invited him to witness and participate in shooting tests using various firearms, from handguns through rifle calibers up to .50 BMG, against the armored glass and doors. He reports being impressed by the armor’s performance, particularly its thinness and light weight compared to traditional vehicle armoring, and describes the counterintuitive feature that allows shooting outward through glass that stops incoming rounds.

Key takeaways

• Colion explains traditional vehicle armoring involves significant tradeoffs in weight, thickness, and vehicle performance, which sparked his initial skepticism about lighter, thinner alternatives
• According to Colion’s observations at the demonstration, the Cyberglass system stopped multiple calibers including 9mm, 5.56, .308, .277 Fury, and even .50 BMG from 40-50 yards while maintaining window functionality
• Colion highlights what he found most surprising: the bidirectional feature that stops incoming rounds while allowing defenders to shoot outward through the same glass, which he describes as counterintuitive but witnessed firsthand
