Is This The Most Affordable, Smallest, & Lightest AR Pattern .308 Rifle On The Market? - Ruger SFAR

About this video

Colion reviews the Ruger SFAR (Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle), describing it as Ruger’s attempt to build the lightest, smallest, and most affordable AR-10 platform. He emphasizes that the rifle shoots .308 rounds but handles like an AR-15 due to its lightweight design and effective muzzle brake, which he says reduces recoil dramatically while creating significant concussive blast for bystanders. Colion walks through the weight-saving features throughout the rifle and demonstrates rapid firing and one-handed manipulation.

Key takeaways

• Colion explains that the Ruger SFAR achieves light weight through aggressive material removal and minimalist design choices throughout the receiver, handguard, and rail system
• According to Colion, the muzzle brake effectively mitigates recoil, making the rifle shoot soft despite its light weight and large caliber, though he notes it creates substantial concussive blast for anyone standing beside the shooter
• Colion recommends pairing the rifle with a lightweight optic like the Leupold Mark 6 1-6x to preserve the platform’s maneuverability advantages
