IWI X95: Everything You Need to Know

About this video

Colion discusses the IWI Tavor bullpup rifle platform with an instructor who demonstrates its design philosophy, modularity, and field maintenance. The instructor explains how the Israeli-developed system uses a long-stroke gas piston similar to AK platforms, can be disassembled with minimal tools, and maintains a full-length barrel in a compact package. Colion acknowledges his initial reluctance toward bullpup designs but finds this platform’s ergonomics and simplicity more intuitive than others he’s encountered.

Key takeaways

• Colion learns the Tavor platform achieves a compact form factor while maintaining full barrel length, and uses a simple long-stroke gas piston system requiring minimal specialized tools for maintenance
• According to the instructor, the Tavor includes a proprietary safety system that contains catastrophic failures to protect the shooter, which he describes as particularly important given the bullpup configuration
• The instructor emphasizes the platform is designed as a fighting rifle prioritizing reliability and field serviceability over competition performance, treating the rifle as a modular ‘pistol workstation’ rather than traditional rifle setup
