NOIR Season 4 | Ep. 5: "Nothing Is Taboo ... Except Gun Safety

About this video

Colion reflects on his own journey from gun-ignorant to gun advocate, arguing that American children learn about sex and drugs but receive no firearms education, leaving them vulnerable to what he describes as anti-gun political messaging. He takes his friend Jamila, who has expressed anti-gun views, to a shooting range for her first experience with firearms, walking her through safety rules and multiple guns. Colion presents this hands-on education as essential to understanding gun policy debates, though Jamila remains uncomfortable and uncommitted by the end.

Key takeaways

• Colion argues that the absence of firearms education in schools leaves kids reliant on unrealistic media portrayals and makes them susceptible to what he calls misleading gun control advocacy
• Colion credits his friend Osa with introducing him to guns without pressure or preconceptions, allowing him to form his own conclusions through direct experience
• Colion uses federal laws restricting stocks on short-barreled rifles as an example of what he views as illogical gun regulations, demonstrating this to Jamila at the range to illustrate his broader point about uninformed lawmaking
