Obama Wants To Regulate Guns Like Cars, Says Gun Ownership Is Too Partisan & Ideological

About this video

Colion responds to comments former President Barack Obama made in a CBS interview about gun ownership and partisanship. Colion argues that Obama is engaging in political gaslighting by framing gun rights as a newly ideological issue, when Colion contends the Second Amendment has always been about limiting government power and protecting individual rights. Colion breaks down Obama’s statements point by point, arguing that Democratic politicians, not gun owners, have made firearms a partisan and identity-based issue.

Key takeaways

• Colion teaches that the Second Amendment was designed to limit government power, not grant rights, and that gun ownership has been ideological since the founding
• Colion argues that gun ownership has increased across all demographic groups (including Black, Hispanic, and Asian Americans), which he says contradicts Obama’s framing of guns as a race or class issue
• Colion contends that Democratic politicians create partisanship around guns by pursuing bans rather than treating firearms pragmatically like car safety (holding individuals accountable rather than banning products)
