Realities of Gunfighting, The Perfect Rifle Setup & Long Distance Shooting w/ Buck Doyle | CNP #8

About this video

Colion Noir discusses his approach to rifle training, emphasizing the importance of training in realistic, varied terrain rather than static square ranges. He explains his philosophy on rifle setup, optics selection (particularly the Tremor 3 reticle), and reading feedback during live fire. Colion stresses that effective gunfighting requires adapting gear to mission and environment, practicing follow-up shots, and learning equipment limitations through hands-on experience rather than theory.

Key takeaways

• Colion teaches that reading your own shot feedback (identifying hits/misses and making immediate corrections without a spotter) is as critical as trigger control itself
• According to Colion, there is no perfect rifle setup; configuration should be driven by your specific environment and mission, with weight and capability as primary considerations
• Colion emphasizes that gunfighting is work requiring constant thinking and adaptation, not the romanticized ‘one shot one kill’ scenario often portrayed in media
• Colion recommends training in realistic terrain to discover gear and setup limitations through experience rather than relying solely on internet forums or theoretical knowledge
