Ruger Max-9 - Affordable Sub Compact with High Fire Power

About this video

Colion presents his first shooting experience with the Ruger Max 9, a compact concealed-carry pistol he positions as Ruger’s competitor to the Glock 43X, Glock 48, and Springfield Hellcat. He takes the gun through basic drills and evaluates its features, including capacity (10- and 12-round magazines), optics-ready slide, fiber-optic front sight, and trigger quality. Colion emphasizes that the trigger feel and manageable recoil impress him, and he argues the Max 9 offers strong value in the high-capacity micro-compact market.

Key takeaways

• Colion reports the Max 9 features optics-ready capability, fiber-optic sights, a manual safety, and ships with 10- and 12-round magazines in a compact frame
• He argues the trigger is smooth with a pronounced wall and clean break, which he considers the gun’s standout feature
• Colion observes that recoil is noticeably softer than some competitors in the same size class, and the grip texture balances comfort with control
