Ruger Security 9 The $349 Gun With $500 Dollar features | First Mag

About this video

Colion reviews the Ruger Security 9, a pistol he describes as an affordable, mid-priced firearm that offers quality features typically found on more expensive guns. He emphasizes that this gun sits in a “sweet spot” between budget and premium options, making it suitable for both home defense and concealed carry. Colion shares that he partnered with Ruger to create content on affordable firearms, drawing on his own experience starting with budget-friendly Ruger models when he first entered gun ownership.

Key takeaways

• Colion argues the Security 9 offers exceptional value at around $300 (normal times), featuring front and rear serrations, quality grip texture, and a trigger he believes is better than a Glock 19’s despite the lower price point
• Colion notes the gun has a longer-than-ideal reset due to its hammer-fired design and slightly more muzzle flip than a Glock 19, though he attributes the flip largely to the 1911-style grip angle
• Colion recommends this firearm as a solid first gun or truck gun—dependable enough to protect your life but affordable enough that losing it to theft or legal proceedings wouldn’t be devastating
