SOG KIKU XR - The Knife That Changed My Perspective on Carry Knives

About this video

Colion reviews the SOG Kiku XR Blackout knife after the company sent it to him following his previous knife video. He explains that while he initially preferred minimal, lightweight knives like the SOG Ultra XR, he grew to appreciate the Kiku XR’s larger size and ergonomics after carrying it during a low-light shooting course in New Mexico. Colion describes the knife’s design, materials, and functionality, positioning it as his preferred choice for outdoor use while still recommending the Ultra XR for daily city carry.

Key takeaways

• Colion considers the SOG Kiku XR a ‘Goldilocks’ knife—large enough for outdoor use but still practical for everyday carry
• According to Colion, the knife’s distinctive textured handle and compound-grind blade combine aesthetic appeal with functional ergonomics
• Colion reports that the Kiku XR’s smooth opening/closing mechanism and CTS-XHP steel blade make it his go-to knife for use outside urban environments
