The Best .45 ACP Handguns Go Head To Head, Let's End The Debate - FNX 45 Tactical vs FN 545 Tactical

About this video

Colion compares two FN handguns chambered in .45 ACP — the FNX-45 Tactical and the newer FN 545 Tactical — evaluating ergonomics, features, shootability, concealability, and build quality. He argues that while the FNX-45 is more fun and characterful with its hammer-fired design and manual safety, the 545 is more refined, easier to shoot accurately, and better suited for concealed carry. Colion ultimately gives the edge to the 545 Tactical for its modern ergonomics, higher capacity magazines, and overall refinement.

Key takeaways

• Colion considers both guns among the best polymer .45 handguns available, but finds the FN 545 Tactical more refined with improved ergonomics and a less blocky grip despite identical 15-round capacity (plus an 18-round option for the 545)
• He describes the FNX-45’s hammer-fired double/single-action system and manual safety as offering more options, but prefers the 545’s striker-fired trigger for faster, more consistent shooting under pressure
• Colion argues the 545 is significantly better for concealed carry due to being thinner, lighter, shorter, and more contoured, while the FNX-45 is too large and blocky for practical everyday carry
