The Brand New FN Five-seveN MRD

About this video

Colion reviews the FN 5.7 Mark III MRD, comparing it to the original model he reviewed years ago. He breaks down the modernized design changes, including optics-ready slide cuts, updated grip texturing, and aesthetic updates that make the gun look more contemporary. Colion argues that adding a red dot transforms this pistol into a viable concealed carry option due to its flat shooting characteristics, high capacity, and light recoil.

Key takeaways

• Colion teaches that the Mark III MRD features significant updates including red dot mounting capability, improved grip texture similar to the FN 509, and a more angular, modern appearance compared to the curvy original design
• Colion explains that while the gun shoots similarly to the original, the addition of optics capability makes it much more practical for defensive use, as the flat-shooting 5.7 cartridge pairs well with red dot sights
• Colion reports that the gun maintains 20-round capacity, runs reliably even with old-generation magazines (though not flush-fit), but he still dislikes the safety design carried over from the original model
