The Budget Suppressor Nobody Expected

About this video

Colion reviews two unconventional suppressors from Advantage Arms: the Super Shorty, a compact 2.5-inch suppressor priced at $249, and the modular 1.75 SS suppressor at $325. He argues that both devices prioritize practical sound reduction and rifle handling over chasing the quietest possible decibel ratings, which he views as a refreshing departure from industry trends. Colion teaches that “survivable sound” and manageability matter more than Hollywood-quiet performance for defensive applications.

Key takeaways

• Colion contends that suppressor manufacturers have become obsessed with chasing the lowest decibel ratings at the expense of weight, balance, and practicality
• According to Colion, the Super Shorty suppressor reduces muzzle blast to “survivable” levels (around 122-126 dB) without adding significant weight or length, making it suitable for defensive use where hearing protection matters more than total silence
• Colion explains that the modular 1.75 SS suppressor offers versatility across multiple calibers (5.56 to .338 Lapua) at a fraction of the cost of dedicated cans, making it practical for shooters who cannot justify owning multiple suppressors
