The Jewish Gun Debate: Why Do Some Support It & Others Fear It?

About this video

Colion interviews Pew Pew Jew, a pro-Second Amendment children’s book author and content creator, about his journey from being raised in an anti-gun Jewish household to becoming a vocal firearms advocate. Colion and his guest discuss the latter’s satirical blank book titled ‘Bullet Points’ (arguing there are no good reasons for common sense gun laws) and ‘Spot Gilly,’ a Where’s Waldo-style firearm-themed illustrated book. The guest shares his perspective on why many Jewish families historically oppose guns and how his own views evolved after his first range experience.

Key takeaways

• Colion’s guest describes how many Jewish families developed anti-gun attitudes due to Holocaust trauma and alignment with Democratic social welfare programs that helped refugees, though he argues post-October 7th events have shifted some perspectives
• The guest explains his motivation for creating pro-Second Amendment children’s books stemmed from wanting to educate his own kids on firearm safety after his parents reacted negatively to learning he owned a gun
• Colion and his guest discuss how immigrant families often come from cultures where government power is absolute and the concept of armed citizens checking tyranny is foreign, making Second Amendment principles harder to embrace
