The M16's Iconic Journey & Springfield's SA-16 A2 Review!

About this video

Colion reviews Springfield’s SA-16 A2, a semi-automatic replica of the military M16A2 rifle. He walks through the rifle’s classic features including the integrated carry handle, fixed iron sights, A2 handguard, 20-inch barrel, and fixed stock, explaining how Springfield faithfully reproduced the original design. Colion shares his experience shooting the rifle and argues it offers both nostalgic appeal for collectors and quality performance, though he acknowledges it won’t appeal to those preferring modern tactical setups.

Key takeaways

• Colion describes the SA-16 A2 as Springfield’s faithful replica of the M16A2, featuring period-correct components like integrated carry handle sights, A2 handguard, and 20-inch chrome-lined barrel
• According to Colion, the rifle’s rifle-length gas system and 20-inch barrel make it soft-shooting and lighter than many modern AR-15s despite its classic design
• Colion suggests the SA-16 A2 appeals primarily to collectors and those interested in owning a piece of AR-15 history, though it may not attract shooters who prefer modern tactical features
