This Affordable Bolt Action Rifle Can Take Standard AR Magazines | Ruger American Ranch
About this video
Colion demonstrates and reviews the Ruger American Ranch in 300 Blackout, emphasizing his appreciation for shooting suppressed subsonic rounds through this bolt-action platform. He explains that he chose this rifle specifically because it’s affordable and extremely quiet when suppressed, making it ideal for leisurely shooting and potentially for ranch use. Colion walks through both the advantages (exceptional sound suppression, good trigger, effective recoil management) and drawbacks (becomes front-heavy with a suppressor, challenging to shoot rapidly) he experiences with this setup.
Key takeaways
- Colion argues the Ruger American Ranch in 300 Blackout offers exceptional value as a suppressed subsonic platform, being both affordable and extremely quiet
- According to Colion, the rifle becomes very front-heavy when fitted with a suppressor, making sustained or rapid freehand shooting tiring, though it excels for bench shooting or leisurely use
- Colion teaches that the rifle’s design is best suited for deliberate, paced shooting rather than rapid fire, functioning well as a ranch gun for pest control where quietness is an advantage
