Virginia increases corrections budget in anticipation of Jailing gun owners

About this video

Colion discusses Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s reported plans to increase the state corrections budget in anticipation of jailing gun owners who may not comply with upcoming gun control legislation. He describes how Northam and Democratic legislators, whom Colion claims were backed by Michael Bloomberg, proposed laws requiring registration of semi-automatic rifles and magazines after initially seeking bans without grandfathering. Colion argues these measures infringe on Second Amendment rights and highlights that over 90 Virginia counties have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries in response.

Key takeaways

• Colion argues that Virginia’s governor is anticipating mass non-compliance with new gun registration requirements and increasing corrections funding accordingly
• Colion believes both the proposed bans and subsequent registration requirements constitute infringements on Second Amendment rights, regardless of grandfathering provisions
• Colion points to the Second Amendment sanctuary movement in over 90 Virginia counties as grassroots pushback against the legislation
