Amazon Author Central Multiple Pen Names: Is There a Limit?

About this video

Dale explains how to add pen names in the newer Amazon Author Central dashboard and whether there is a limit. To add one: set up an account at author.amazon.com, click the Books tab, click ‘add it now’ at the top of the page, enter the title, ISBN or author name of a book written under the pen name you want to add, click ‘Add this book’, select that author name and click Continue. Once verified, the profile appears in the dropdown in the top right of the Author Central profile. On the limit, he quotes a reply he received from Amazon Author Central: it allows you to create up to 3 Author Pages but manage up to 7 within a single account, and if you already have three pages and want more pen names, you should reopen the case with the pen names and they will add them on your behalf. He contrasts this with the previous rule of just 3, after which authors had to open additional Author Central accounts. He stresses not to confuse this with KDP: do not open multiple KDP accounts for pen names — all pen names can go into a single KDP account — whereas multiple Author Central accounts have not caused issues he has seen. He suggests 7 pen names on one account will be enough for most, and to use Contact Us at the bottom of the dashboard, with help typically within about 24 to 72 hours.

• For pen names beyond three pages, contact Author Central and they will add them on your behalf
• Keep all pen names in one KDP account — do not open multiple KDP accounts
