Are You Breaking This Unclear KDP Rule?

About this video

Dale answers viewer questions about unclear KDP rules. Having a separate Amazon customer account and one KDP account is fine, but having more than one KDP account violates the terms; spouses under one roof can each have a KDP account if they have different tax ID numbers and separate businesses, as he and his wife do. A terminated author cannot simply open a new account — Dale urges fighting a wrongful termination instead. Blocked books stay on the bookshelf permanently, and authors must push support for the specific reason and prove image licensing where needed. Using trademarked terms or images, such as the example of ‘Crayon’ discussed in the video, can bring instant termination under KDP’s zero-tolerance approach. He covers relaunching a heavily rewritten book as a new edition (contact support first because of duplicate content), fighting false copyright claims with evidence, wrong-category risks, cover image rights, poor-quality books drawing customer reports, and graphic sexual/violent content.

Key takeaways

• One KDP account only: a separate customer account is fine, but a second KDP account violates the terms, and terminated authors cannot start over with a new one.
• Spouses can each hold a KDP account when they have different tax ID numbers and separate businesses, even sharing an address and IP address.
• Blocked books are permanent; push KDP for the specific reason and be ready to prove you hold image or content licences.
• Do not use trademarked terms, logos or images — Dale warns KDP can terminate instantly rather than warn or suspend.
• Check categories with the free category finder at bklnk.com using your ASIN, and ask support to remove wrong categories; you can have up to 10 categories per format.
