Stop Wasting Your Life - 7 Things I Quit to Go From Broke to Millionaire

About this video

Martell says his move from broke to multi-millionaire came less from what he did than from seven things he quit. First, spending time with energy vampires, illustrated by a childhood friend who only called when he needed something; he recommends a friend inventory and keeping people who want more for you, not from you. Second, taking advice from people who have not done what you want to do, whether in fitness, business, or parenting. Third, blaming anyone else for your situation, because blame gives away control. Fourth, saying yes to every opportunity, which overloads your backpack and makes your yes untrustworthy; he urges picking one thing for a decade. Fifth, being a prisoner to your phone and doomscrolling instead of building a vision and turning off notifications. Sixth, merely reading books instead of studying them just-in-time and acting immediately. Seventh, comparing yourself to anyone except your past self, aiming for 1% better daily.

Key takeaways

• Cut energy vampires; do a friend inventory and protect your environment
• Only take advice from people who have achieved that specific result
• Stop blaming others; ownership restores control
• Say no to protect focus; commit to one thing for a decade
• Study books just-in-time and act at once; compare only to your past self
