Protocols to Access Creative Energy and Process | Rick Rubin

About this video

Legendary music producer Rick Rubin returns to answer listener questions drawn from thousands submitted after his previous appearance, with Huberman deliberately speaking less to give Rubin the floor. Rubin, author of The Creative Act, discusses the practical side of his creative process: what he does from waking to sleeping, how he works when producing music or other art, and whether he takes note of his dreams. The conversation ranges over listening itself, as Rubin explains why he loves rare live versions, B-sides and archival footage online, delighting in a Ramones television clip Huberman sent him, and praising the internet as an archive of lectures, films and performances by great thinkers that would otherwise be unreachable. Huberman frames the episode as a practical guide to accessing creative energy.
