Checking in with the CDC
About this video
In this CDC sketch, Jimothy urges his boss to revisit unpopular pandemic guidance and address controversial remarks, but the boss is tired of COVID and would rather think about anything else. Flanary satirizes pandemic fatigue inside public health leadership by having the boss wistfully ask about Ebola and even a fictional zombie outbreak as distractions. The humor comes from an institution meant to focus on a global pandemic searching for a different crisis instead.
Key takeaways
- Flanary portrays CDC leadership in the sketch as burned out on COVID guidance
- Jimothy argues revisiting guidance could rebuild trust after public anger
