About Gentleman's Gazette

The Gentleman’s Gazette was founded by Sven Raphael Schneider — in his own videos he introduces himself as the founder of the Gentleman’s Gazette and of the Fort Belvedere accessories shop — and the channel has been on YouTube since 2010. Many videos are presented by Gazette team members rather than Schneider himself, but the teaching voice is consistent: classic menswear explained in unusual depth, in long videos that assume the viewer wants the reasons, not just the rules.

The framework starts with fit, which appears in more of the team’s transcripts than any other subject: a garment that fits properly beats an expensive garment that does not. From there it moves to fabrics and construction — learn fibres, weaves, canvas and welting so quality can be judged in hand rather than from a brand name — and then to dress codes as a complete system, with black tie and white tie at the formal top and the same logic extended down through business and casual dress. History does the justifying: the 1920s and 1930s are the reference era, and rules are kept only where they still work.

Etiquette is the second half of the project. The channel’s second most-viewed video is a table-manners guide, and compliments, interviews and funeral protocol sit alongside the tailoring — dressing correctly without behaving correctly is, in the team’s framing, an unfinished job. Garment care gets the same serious treatment: ironing, stain removal and washing suits at home are among the most-watched videos in the catalogue.

Alongside the teaching sits Fort Belvedere, the team’s own accessories shop, whose products are worn and shown inside the videos — the commercial engine of the channel, integrated into the education rather than separated from it. Taken together, the library is a reference work: 1,062 videos distilled here, from a three-minute bow-tie tutorial to a seventy-nine-minute dress-shoe review.
