About Tom Bilyeu & Impact Theory — Quest Nutrition Founder, Mindset Podcast | Self Growth Videos

Thomas Bilyeu was born July 16, 1976 and grew up in Tacoma, Washington. He studied film at the University of Southern California, worked for years in corporate technology marketing, and by his early thirties had decided that the life he was building was not the life he wanted. He has been direct about that reckoning across hundreds of podcast conversations: the realization that comfort and incremental progress were the traps, and that everything he actually wanted was on the other side of discomfort he had been avoiding.

In 2010 Bilyeu co-founded Quest Nutrition with Ron Penna and Mike Osborn as a protein-bar company positioned as “clean” food for fitness enthusiasts. Quest became one of the fastest-growing private companies in American history — Inc. 500 five times, valued at over $1 billion by 2017, and sold to Simply Good Foods in 2019 for approximately $1 billion.

Bilyeu left day-to-day Quest operations in 2016 to launch Impact Theory — a media company built around his long-form interview podcast of the same name. The podcast has since grown into one of the most influential shows in personal development and business. Bilyeu has also launched Impact Theory Studios (a comic-book and streaming-content studio), Impact Theory University (an online coaching platform), and the Founders Factory venture investing group.

He is married to Lisa Bilyeu, co-founder of Quest, host of the podcast Women of Impact, and an increasingly prominent voice in her own right. The couple lives in Los Angeles.
