"FAITH & MATURITY" Inky Johnson | Serendipity Podcast - Season 2 Episode 14

About this video

Johnson and his co-host Oak discuss themes of serendipity, maturity, and spiritual growth in this podcast episode. Johnson explains his choice of ‘serendipity’ as his guiding word for 2022, emphasizing finding unexpected blessings in everyday moments and losses. Oak shares his focus on deepening his spiritual walk and public faith practice. They explore three keys to maturity Johnson identifies: obedience (compliance with gladness), submission (yielding with excitement), and acquiescence (reluctantly accepting without protest).

Key takeaways

• Johnson argues that every gain involves a loss and vice versa, so we must maximize each moment and experience we choose, finding serendipity (unexpected blessings) even in setbacks
• Johnson shares that early career colleagues failed to support his book launch as promised, but he reframed their inaction as God pressing him toward greater things—illustrating ’no pressure’ acceptance and serendipity in rejection
• Johnson outlines three levels of maturity: obedience (doing what’s asked with gladness), submission (yielding with enthusiasm), and acquiescence (accepting reluctantly what counters your experience, without protest)—with maturity caring about what’s right, not who’s right
