"Power of Submission" Inky Johnson | Serendipity Podcast Season 2 Episode 3

About this video

Johnson and his co-host Oak discuss foundational principles for personal growth, including the power of submission as a prerequisite to success, the distinction between ambition and entitlement, and the importance of hope in marginalized communities. Johnson argues that sexism may be more destructive than racism within Black communities because it undermines family foundations, and he emphasizes that understanding one’s African heritage and lineage constitutes the most important form of generational wealth.

Key takeaways

• Johnson teaches that submission—being open to learning from others and past experiences—must come before any meaningful success or self-mastery can be achieved
• Johnson argues that people are ’entitled’ to greatness because of the sacrifices of ancestors and family members who prayed for and invested in them, reframing entitlement as a birthright rather than a negative trait
• Johnson contends that sexism and patriarchy within Black communities may be more damaging than racism because they prevent men and women from standing as equals and building strong family foundations, which he sees as essential to collective advancement
