5 Best Website Builders (Tested & Ranked)

About this video

Nick builds the same new business website five times to compare five builders, noting all let you design and publish for free with paid upgrades and custom domain options. His favorite overall is Framer, the video’s partner, which offers templates or a blank start, the Wireframer AI design assistant, a properties panel for size, links, and animations, three breakpoints for desktop, tablet, and phone, a CMS and plugin system, and Framer Academy tutorials; he compares its deeper tools to Figma. Wix guides users with upfront goal questions, a dashboard, the Arya AI chat assistant, and the Harmony Editor combining editing and preview. Canva Websites edits exactly like a Canva graphic, though Nick advises starting via Create and Websites rather than Canva AI if you want traditional editing tools. Google Sites is presented as the fastest route to a published site but with a limited template selection and fewer features. Carrd offers a large library of templates but only builds single-page sites, using containers and columns. Nick says he will go live with the Framer version.

Key takeaways

• Framer is Nick’s pick for scaling up: templates plus Wireframer AI to start, then Figma-like layout control, three breakpoints, CMS, and plugins as needs grow
• Wix is the most guided option, using goal questions, the Arya AI assistant, and the Harmony Editor to handle as much of the process as possible
• Canva Websites is best if you already know Canva, since sites edit like graphics, but start through Create > Websites to keep the traditional editor
• Google Sites gets a site online fastest but comes with a limited template selection and serious feature limitations
• Carrd is for single-page sites only: beautiful templates and quick builds for sharing a small amount of information, not multi-page or e-commerce sites
