How to Use Copilot in Microsoft OneDrive
About this video
Copilot is now built into OneDrive for Microsoft 365 subscribers to help make sense of documents, meeting notes, photos and other files. A new floating Copilot button in the lower right of the web interface offers suggested prompts such as summarize a file, create an FAQ from a file, or ask a question from a file. You can select up to five files and ask Copilot to summarize them, extract key takeaways, or compare similar documents — it generates a table summarizing key changes and additions between versions. In Windows File Explorer, right-clicking a file via the OneDrive menu (or via the taskbar OneDrive icon) gives the same options, e.g. summarizing a Word document in the Copilot pane or creating an FAQ to copy elsewhere. Copilot also works on non-text files: it can recap a meeting recording, say whether you were mentioned, answer questions about it, and analyze a photo of a whiteboard as if reading a text document. Finally, Generate/Create Audio Overview in the mobile app (iOS or Android) and on the web produces a spoken summary; on the web you can choose a summary-style audio file or a longer podcast-style file where two virtual hosts discuss the file conversationally, with playback controls and background playback on mobile.
