Sora AI Tutorial — How to Create Stunning AI Videos

About this video

David presents a Sora AI tutorial covering first-video creation, prompting, and tests of six video types. Sora requires an OpenAI/ChatGPT account and a paid plan to create: Plus is described as watermarked 720p for non-commercial play (with 10-second video at 480p at time of filming), while Pro is for serious users, and relaxed unlimited videos were available to Plus users when credits run out. He generates stormtroopers invading a pastel office, then uses Remix — explaining mild vs. strong strength, recommending starting at 480p and two variations — to add office workers. Prompt tips are: keep it simple because Sora makes clips not movies, avoid complex object interactions (shown with melting forks in a pasta scene), and use the CAST formula — Character, Action, Setting, Time — plus presets for color grading, camera, film stock, lighting, and vibe. He rates B-roll 3/5 (realistic tops but broken signs, traffic, and fading objects), animations/abstract 4.5/5, data/infographics 0 stars (garbled graphs and changed numbers), celebrities unrated (likenesses are only inspired-by), fantasy 4/5, and fun for kids 1/5 because uploads bar under-18s and explicit content and copyright checks block most familiar characters.

Key takeaways

• Creating in Sora requires a paid Plus or Pro plan; viewing alone is free, Plus videos are watermarked, and the tutorial recommends experimenting at 480p with two variations to move fast
• Remix lets you iterate on a generated clip, with mild strength making noticeable but limited changes and higher/strong strength changing room layouts and content much more
• Use the CAST prompt formula — Character, Action, Setting, Time — keep prompts simple for a single clip, and avoid complex object interactions which produce artifacts like melting forks
• Presets control the ‘how’ of a prompt — color grading, camera, film stock, lighting, and vibe — e.g., turning a fox scene into a 1940s film noir look
• Testing found Sora strongest for animation/abstract (4.5/5) and fantasy (4/5), middling for B-roll (3/5), and failing for data/infographics (0 stars) and recognizable celebrities
