Fighter Pilot Explains New Movie That Beats Top Gun Maverick

About this video

Max, a former F-15E and F-16 Thunderbirds pilot, pitches his concept for a movie called “Apollo” that he believes could compete with Top Gun: Maverick. He outlines a story centered on an Air Force F-35 pilot named Apollo, grandson of legendary Vietnam-era pilot Robin Olds, who must execute a high-stakes mission involving rescuing a president and destroying a nuclear facility. Max incorporates historical Air Force moments like Robin Olds’ famous MiG-baiting tactics and Pardo’s Push into his speculative screenplay, emphasizing character development, authenticity, and Air Force heritage.

Key takeaways

• Max proposes a fictional Air Force film titled “Apollo” featuring a protagonist who is the grandson of Robin Olds and faces stigma due to his family legacy while proving himself as an exceptional pilot
• The speculative plot involves a dual mission where Apollo must learn to fly an F-35B variant, rescue a president via vertical landing, and destroy a nuclear facility with a classified missile
• Max incorporates real Air Force history into his fictional screenplay, including Robin Olds’ Vietnam tactics of disguising F-4s as F-105s and Pardo’s Push maneuver where one damaged aircraft was pushed to safety by another
