Houthi Rebels Say they SHOT DOWN ANOTHER MQ-9!

About this video

Max discusses reports of suspected US airstrikes on Houthi rebels that allegedly killed six and injured 26, and Houthi claims of shooting down an MQ-9 drone, though none of this has been confirmed by US Central Command. He explains that Iran has helped Houthi rebels develop indigenous weapons manufacturing capabilities, particularly the SA-6/7 (Sacker 358) surface-to-air missile, making it difficult to target dispersed production facilities. Max speculates that the US may be using RQ-170 stealth drones for high-altitude surveillance while MQ-1 and MQ-9 drones carry out strikes at lower altitudes, and suggests the situation could evolve into a counterinsurgency operation.

Key takeaways

• Max reports that Houthi rebels claim to have shot down an MQ-9 drone and that suspected US strikes killed six rebels, though US Central Command has not confirmed either claim
• Max argues that Iran has enabled Houthi rebels to build indigenous weapons manufacturing, particularly the Sacker 358 missile, by providing technology and training, making these facilities difficult to target as they proliferate and disguise themselves as civilian operations
• Max speculates that US operations likely involve RQ-170 stealth drones for surveillance at high altitude while MQ-1 and MQ-9 drones operate lower to deliver Hellfire missiles and small diameter bombs, accepting the risk of losing the less expensive platforms
• Max suggests the situation may evolve into a counterinsurgency operation, ideally with Yemeni forces on the ground advised by US special operations, to root out embedded rebel manufacturing capabilities
