I Got Offered To Be The Next Barry Seal From American Made

About this video

Max recounts a story sent to him by a fellow fighter pilot about being approached for a suspicious aviation job after an airline bankruptcy. The anonymous recruiter, who demonstrated detailed knowledge of the pilot’s background, probed extensively about formation flying skills and promised he would “never have to worry about money again.” Max explains that he later learned from other furloughed fighter pilots and local law enforcement that this was allegedly part of schemes recruiting former military pilots to fly drug or weapons runs for cartels by flying in formation underneath commercial aircraft to evade radar detection.

Key takeaways

• Max describes receiving an anonymous invitation to a Miami restaurant where a recruiter offered a high-paying aviation job without clearly explaining the work, focusing instead on the pilot’s formation flying experience
• Max recounts that after consulting with other furloughed fighter pilots and law enforcement, he learned the offer was allegedly part of schemes to recruit former military pilots to fly contraband (drugs, weapons, money) by flying in formation under commercial 747s from South America into U.S. airspace
• Max states pilots in these alleged schemes were reportedly paid upwards of $100,000 per trip, and there were also rumors the CIA was involved to track narco traffickers, though he emphasizes he never confirmed who the recruiter actually represented
