Real F-15 Pilot Dogfights F-18's in Combat Simulator

About this video

Max flies an F-15C in a combat simulator against three AI-controlled F-18s in a hypothetical scenario where Russian pilots have stolen F-18s. Over three rounds of simulated dogfighting, Max demonstrates basic fighter maneuvers, radar work, and gun tactics, explaining his decision-making throughout the engagements. He emphasizes energy management, positioning, and capitalizing on opponent mistakes while navigating the challenges of the simulator.

Key takeaways

• Max explains that dogfighting success comes down to capitalizing on small mistakes opponents make during basic fighter maneuvers.
• Max describes tactical approaches including “field goaling” (splitting between two opponents to create confusion) and taking the high ground to build potential energy advantage.
• Max notes the F-18’s strong thrust-to-weight ratio makes it a formidable opponent in turning engagements, even against the F-15C.
