Real Fighter Pilot Shoots Down Iranian Drones in F-15E Combat Simulator

About this video

Max recreates a hypothetical scenario of intercepting Iranian drones in an F-15E Strike Eagle flight simulator, inspired by Iran’s recent launch of over 300 drones. He demonstrates the tactics he would use as a fighter pilot, including radar operations, missile engagements, and gun runs against drone formations heading toward Israel. The simulation includes speculative elements like rearward-facing guns on the drones that Max says pilots would face uncertainty about in real combat.

Key takeaways

• Max explains that intercepting drone swarms involves using radar to lock multiple targets simultaneously while managing jamming, then engaging with AMRAAMs, AIM-9s, and guns before drones reach their targets
• Max emphasizes that pilots facing autonomous drones deal with uncertainty about their capabilities and weaponry, requiring situational awareness and staying out of potential ‘cones of death’
• Max notes that some F-15Es may have been on station during the actual Iranian drone attack, and describes maintaining visual lookout and radar awareness to track small radar cross-section threats
