Real Fighter Pilot Top Gun Maverick Mission ATTEMPT 2

About this video

Max attempts a Top Gun Maverick-inspired mission in an F-16 flight simulator. He narrates flying through a canyon to bomb a bunker target behind a mountain while evading SA-3 and SA-15 surface-to-air missiles, then engaging MiG-29s and a Su-30 in air-to-air combat with support from a wingman called Hangman. Max successfully destroys the ground target and engages multiple enemy aircraft, but is eventually shot down by a MiG-29 during the dogfight phase.

Key takeaways

• Max emphasizes the importance of immediately transitioning to air-to-air combat readiness after completing a ground strike mission, stating this is something he would stress in his fighter squadrons
• The simulated mission requires coordinating multiple phases: low-altitude terrain masking, precision bombing, defensive maneuvering against surface-to-air threats, and multi-bandit air combat
• Max describes using various weapons systems including paired bomb drops, AMRAAM missiles (Fox three calls), and heat-seeking missiles (Fox two calls) while managing radar locks and countermeasures
