Real Fighter Pilot vs Iran's F -14 Tomcats | Digital Combat Simulator

About this video

Max, a former F-15E Strike Eagle and F-16 Thunderbirds pilot, plays a Digital Combat Simulator scenario where he engages Iranian F-14 Tomcats and MiG-29s in the Straits of Hormuz. This is a speculative gaming scenario, not real combat. Max provides live commentary on his tactics, discusses his past experience potentially being tasked to intercept Iranian F-14s during his actual service, and demonstrates dogfighting techniques including missile employment and gun kills. He also strafes simulated speedboats and interacts with his live audience throughout the stream.

Key takeaways

• Max explains that Iranian F-14s should not be underestimated in combat scenarios, noting from his experience that while their weapons may not work well, they might, so treating them as easy targets would be unwise
• Max demonstrates various fighter tactics including patience in dogfighting, using the AIM-9X missile by ‘dropping it off’ for an enemy to fly into during a merge, and proper gun employment with ranging cues
• Max describes his approach to training, stating he would take aggressive chances in training exercises because that reflected what he planned to do in actual combat
