Second US Aircraft Carrier Gets UNLEASHED on Middle East

About this video

Max discusses the deployment of the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group to the Middle East to join the USS Harry S. Truman. He analyzes how the carrier’s weapons systems—including rolling airframe missiles, Sea Sparrow missiles, radar-assisted guns, F-35C stealth fighters, F/A-18 fighters, EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft, and E-2D Hawkeye early warning aircraft—could potentially be used against Houthi rebels in Yemen and serve as deterrence against Iran, particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Max argues this deployment represents significant military power projection and a negotiating tool during ongoing discussions about Iran’s nuclear program.

Key takeaways

• Max explains that the USS Carl Vinson is deploying to the Middle East to add firepower alongside the Harry S. Truman, potentially positioning near Oman for operations against Houthi rebels or near the Strait of Hormuz to deter Iran
• Max details the carrier’s defensive systems (RAM missiles, Sea Sparrow missiles, 20mm and 25mm radar-assisted guns) as effective against drones and missiles, while offensive airpower includes F-35C stealth fighters primarily for Iran deterrence and F/A-18E/F fighters for strikes against Houthi targets
• Max argues the carrier strike group serves as both a military deterrent and a diplomatic tool during nuclear negotiations with Iran, with the combination of stealth aircraft, electronic warfare capabilities, and conventional fighters creating what he calls ‘one of the best negotiating tactics probably in the history of the world’
