The Mirage 2000 is CRUSHING Russia's Air Force

About this video

Max, a former F-15E and F-16 pilot, analyzes Ukraine’s use of Mirage 2000 fighter jets against Russian KH-101 cruise missiles. He reviews a Ukrainian hype video showing the jets operating from austere forward locations and reports that Ukraine has at least nine operational Mirage 2000s conducting offensive patrols. Max explains the jets’ capabilities, limitations, and effectiveness, noting the aircraft have shifted from defensive to proactive hunter-killer missions targeting cruise missiles responsible for significant damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure.

Key takeaways

• Max reports that Ukraine’s Mirage 2000 fleet has achieved at least 12 confirmed kills of KH-101 cruise missiles with a 98% hit rate when firing, and the fleet has contributed to killing 452 drones and cruise missiles total.
• Max explains that the Mirage 2000’s updated avionics, high air intakes (better for austere fields than F-16s), and agility make it effective for hunting terrain-hugging cruise missiles, though he notes it has limited hardpoints for weapons compared to what he considers ideal.
• Max argues that the KH-101 cruise missiles are responsible for 40% of Ukraine’s energy grid damage, and the Mirage 2000 has helped preserve critical infrastructure and save civilian lives by intercepting these missiles.
• Max speculates that while more Western aircraft may be provided to Ukraine, he personally doubts F-35s will be deployed there, though he suggests Poland may increase F-35 rotations near the border as leverage for peace negotiations.
