U.S. Military Gears Up for Greenland Takeover

About this video

Max analyzes the renewed US push to acquire Greenland, describing his view of why Arctic control has become strategically critical as melting ice opens new routes contested by Russia and China. He walks through the military assets the US could deploy there—including F-35s, P-8 Poseidons, and advanced radar systems—and explains how these would counter what he describes as increased Russian submarine activity and Chinese infrastructure investments in the region. Max concludes with a hypothetical combat scenario illustrating how US forces based in Greenland might intercept a Russian submarine incursion.

Key takeaways

• Max argues that Greenland’s strategic value stems from Arctic ice melt opening shipping lanes and positioning it as a chokepoint against Russian subs and Chinese expansion in what he calls the ‘Polar Silk Road’
• According to Max, basing F-35s and maritime patrol aircraft in Greenland would dramatically reduce US response times to threats in the GIUK gap and allow real-time surveillance of Russian and Chinese Arctic activities
• Max outlines how layered defenses—stealth fighters, missile interceptors, over-the-horizon radar, and autonomous drones—could turn Greenland into what he describes as a defensive shield that deters escalation without massive troop deployments
