Ukraine's F-16 Stuns Russia’s Su-35 in Historic Air Battle!

About this video

Max analyzes reports of a Ukrainian shootdown of a Russian Su-35 fighter jet over the Kursk region on June 7th, 2025. He walks through the technical capabilities of the F-16, Patriot missile system, and Mirage 2000 to assess which platform most likely achieved the kill. Max describes his theory that an F-16 fired an AIM-120 missile guided by a Swedish Saab 340 early warning aircraft, explaining the tactical advantages and likely cockpit dynamics of both pilots involved.

Key takeaways

• Max assesses there’s a 70% likelihood an F-16 using an AIM-120 missile shot down the Su-35, based on his analysis of reported fragmentation patterns and the jet’s integration with NATO Link 16 data sharing
• According to Max, the key tactical advantage was likely the Swedish Saab 340 early warning platform detecting the Su-35 and feeding targeting data to the F-16, allowing a beyond-visual-range shot while the F-16 stayed radar silent
• Max recounts that the Russian pilot likely had a false sense of security when the F-16 turned away after firing, not realizing the AIM-120 was still being guided to target by the Saab platform
