US Airstrikes IGNITE Total War in Syria

About this video

Max analyzes U.S. Operation Hawkeye in Syria, where coalition forces (U.S. and Jordan) struck over 70 ISIS targets with more than 100 precision munitions in response to an ambush that killed two Iowa National Guard members and a Syrian-American interpreter. Max speculates about the tactical execution, suggesting the strikes likely involved F-15E Strike Eagles, A-10s, F-16s, and MQ-9 Reapers coordinated from CENTCOM. He argues that ISIS operates as an insurgency using low-tech tactics, and that Syria now has the potential to become stable if the new regime under Ahmad al-Sharaa continues working with the U.S. to root out terrorism and build a legitimate economy and education system.

Key takeaways

• Max reports that Operation Hawkeye targeted over 70 ISIS locations with 100+ precision munitions following an ISIS ambush that killed two National Guard members (Maria Gonzalez and Jamal Carter) and interpreter Ahmad Khalil
• Max speculates the strikes were likely executed by F-15E Strike Eagles, A-10 Warthogs, F-16s, and MQ-9 Reapers, coordinated simultaneously to prevent ISIS members from escaping
• Max argues that Syria’s new regime under Ahmad al-Sharaa, working with 900 U.S. operators in Operation Inherent Resolve, has the potential to establish stability through security, economy, and education—what he describes as a ‘retrenchment strategy’ avoiding large ground force deployments
