028 Collin Joseph

About this video

Mike Ritland interviews Collin Joseph, a Canadian fitness entrepreneur who owns Financially Fit Academy and Balance Bodies. Joseph shares stories from his unconventional path, including a criminal assault charge that prevented him from entering the U.S. until age 25 and blocked his planned military career. He describes transitioning from six years as an oil field welder to building successful online fitness businesses, driven by a work ethic he attributes to growing up with a single mother in a small Alberta town.

Key takeaways

• Joseph recounts receiving a criminal record for assault causing bodily harm after breaking a bouncer’s jaw and orbital bones in a fight when he was 19, which resulted in nearly $50,000 in legal fees and prevented U.S. entry until he was 25
• Joseph describes his morning routine as surprisingly simple—he practices 16:8 intermittent fasting, drinks tea and takes vitamins, and doesn’t follow the complex supplement regimens many assume he uses
• Joseph explains he left welding in the oil fields (working 12-14 hour days for up to 36 days straight) and built his online fitness business from scratch with only $400 in his bank account, making $4,500 in his first two days of online work
