Andy Stumpf Reveals Why SEAL Team 6 Crushes Regular Teams

About this video

Ritland discusses his experience screening for and serving at SEAL Team Six (Development Group) after time at SEAL Team 5. He contrasts conventional SEAL teams with the more kinetically-focused training at Dev Group, explaining differences in budget, equipment access, and operational specialization. Ritland also reflects on political detachment during service and the reality of finding both exceptional and poor leaders within the SEAL community.

Key takeaways

• According to Ritland, the main difference between conventional teams and Dev Group is budget-driven access to equipment and facilities, plus a specialized kinetic focus rather than being a jack-of-all-trades
• Ritland describes Dev Group training as centered on mastering door-to-door operations with constant kill house work, while conventional teams cycle through diverse skill blocks and face periodic personnel resets
• Ritland explains he didn’t vote while serving, viewing military members as action arms of policy who shouldn’t influence political direction, and advises looking past individual bad leaders to avoid letting anomalies paint the norm
